GPHG 2017: Preselected Audemars Piguet High-End Watches

The 2017 edition of the GPHG (Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve) is just around the corner, with its unique selection of the best high-end watches introduced this year. The Prize-Giving ceremony of the so-called Oscars of the Watchmaking Industry will be held in Geneva next month, on November 8. However, the list of finalists is already known and includes both well-known luxury watch brands, like Chopard and Vacheron Constantin, and lesser-known brands, like D.Candaux and Konstantin Chaykin. Among such a variety of the world’s best watchmakers, Audemars Piguet is the only one competing in five different categories at once, with five stunning high-end watches released this year. Here they are!

1. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold Ref. 15454OR.GG.1259OR

Created in collaboration with the renowned jewelry designer Carolina Bucci to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the women’s Royal Oak, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted is distinguished by its shimmering 18k rose gold case and bracelet, made with the use of the ancient Florentine gold hammering technique. This beautiful timepiece with an unusual “diamond dust” sparkle is competing in the Ladies’ category.

3. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ref. 26579CE.OO.1225CE.01

Inspired by astronomy and naturally occurring cycles, the new Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar is a tribute to the original Audemars Piguet perpetual calendar wristwatch introduced in 1955. Made of hand-finished black ceramic, it features an iconic slate gray “Grande Tapisserie” dial that, in addition to the more common day, date, and month, also shows leap year, week of the year, and astronomical moon. This watch is competing in the Calendar category.
